On June 2nd, Germany Parliament, Bundestag will vote the Genocide Resolution of Armenian, Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian and Greek Pontiac people during the First World War, WWI under the Ottoman-Turkish rule. Entitled as “In Remembrance and Commemoration of the Genocide against Armenians and other Christian Minorities in the years 1915 and 1916” has historical and moral importance for the above mentioned groups, to the Germany and most important to the Turkey as a state which was founded on the basis of the Ottoman Empire.

Today Orthodox Christians around the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Easter. Syriac people in the homeland and diaspora continue their millennium traditions by preserving this unique tradition.

During the recent months, the governing AK Party destroyed all aspirations and democratic structures for Turkey and its people. In the South East of Turkey towns had been destructed and people faced massacres. Also churches, historical sites and architectural monuments had been attacked similar to the incidents of Sayfo genocide of 1915.

On Thursday 4th, February, European Parliament adopted a joint resolution recognizing the crime and atrocities against Christian Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people, Yazidis and other ethnic and religious minorities as genocide. Unprecedented decision of European Parliament is clear sign for the urgent need for vulnerable groups in the Middle East region.

The ongoing fights in Turkey reached another level. The conflict does not harm only Kurdish people, but also all other minorities, such as Alevites, Syriac Christians and others.

On the Eve of New Year, December, 30, 2015 historical Syriac town of Beth Zalin, Qamishli in Gozarto, Syria had been target of heinous terrorist attack, according to local sources with current situation, leaving 18 martyrs and more than 25 injured, under treatment in different hospitals across the town. During the night of December 30, around 9pm local time, three explosions targeted Syriacs owned restaurants in the dominantly Syriac Christian neighbourhood of the city.

On this day of December 9 as the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of the Genocide and the Prevention of this Crime, it is our moral and historical duty to remember victims of the Genocides and the survivors of the Sayfo 1915, Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people face another genocide in the Middle East and existential threat.

The capital of France, Paris, once again had been target of unprecedented and simultaneous act of terror in different locations and leaving more than 130 dead and hundreds of injured and painful nation. Our thoughts are with the families of victims, injured and French people altogether.

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East, especially in Iraq and Syria, is causing irrevocable damage to the native people, minorities, ethnic and religious groups. From the beginning of the fall of Mosul city until today, Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people and Ezidis had been subject of killings, executions, ransom and mass-displacement.

Urgent plea for aid for fleeing Christians!
Yesterday’s abductions of Syriac Christians and others in Al Quaryatayn are already a well-known fact. These abductions underscore once more the dire situation of Syriac Christians and other minorities in Syria.
