After more than 13 years of war, conflict, displacement and pain new chapter is beginning today as the Syrian people opened new page in the country and following departure of the Assad from the capital. History is written for the people in Syria.
Started in 2013 by popular demands of freedom, democracy and dignity, Syrian conflict evolved, transformed and have been scene for various national and international actors leaving fractured and destroyed country with millions displaced and dead. Reconstruction and rehabilitation of the country and people with their unique assets and richness remain enormous challenge and dilemma for the international community and new rulers of the country.
Following 13 years of the conflict, minority and vulnerable groups and Christians have been target of massacres, killings and mass displacement and their religious and cultural monuments have been destroyed and their political and religious leaders either imprisoned, killed or disappeared. With the new period in Syria, minority and vulnerable groups have to find their place among the society and guarantee their rights and existence.
While international community is busy with Ukraine and Israel-Palestine conflict, actors involved in Syria should work hand by hand to create new conditions of life and constitution which enshrine rights of all components. In this regard, unique example of northeast Syria self administration is clear agenda to follow and put in place. The creation of self administration in northeast Syria by Assyrian, Kurds, Arabs and Armenians offered new window of opportunities in the country.
We congratulate people of Syria in this new transition and we believe that every group and community must find its place in the country.
