On 29th February 2008 the Chaldean Archbishop of Mosul Paulus Faraj Raho was kidnapped by unknown persons in Mosul.
At around 17:00 pm local time, after performing the evening service, while the Archbishop Paulus Faraj Raho was leaving the Church of the Holy Spirit in Al-Nour district of Mosul, his vehicle in which he was accompanied by his driver and two guards was ambushed by some unknown persons.
The accompanying driver and two guards were killed on the spot and the archbishop was kidnapped by force. The name of the murdered driver is Fares and the names of the two murdered guards are Rami and Samir. So far no groups have claimed to be behind this despicable attack.
This is not the first time that the Christian clergymen are being targets of this kind of terrorist acts in Mosul. Some of them have been decapitated and murdered and some of them have been released after a large ransom was paid to the kidnappers.
