As the European Syriac Union (ESU), we extend our heartfelt greetings to all Syriac people and Christian communities on the occasion of Easter.
Easter symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus Christ after His crucifixion, representing hope, new beginnings, and spiritual renewal. This sacred day is not only a religious commemoration, but also a reflection of our people’s centuries-long faith, resilience, and struggle to preserve their identity.
Despite ongoing pressures and threats faced by Christian communities in various parts of the world, we, as the Syriac people, welcome this holy day with hope, determination, and solidarity. In our ancestral homeland of Mesopotamia, our people continue to uphold their faith, culture, and history despite numerous hardships.
As ESU, we are firmly committed to fighting with all our means for our people’s freedom, and for the protection of their identity, faith, and cultural heritage. This struggle is not merely a quest for rights, but a responsibility to our history, our roots, and future generations. We view our organized presence in Europe as a source of strength, and we will continue our tireless efforts to ensure that our people can live in peace, equality, and freedom in their homeland.
On this occasion, we extend our warmest Easter wishes to Syriacs in Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, and across the diaspora, and we hope for a future where justice, peace, and human rights prevail.
