21 years foundational anniversary of European Syriac Union

On this May 15, the European Syriac Union (ESU) celebrates its founding anniversary, established in 2004 in the European capital, Brussels, with the participation of delegates from various countries. With more than twenty years of service to the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people, ESU has become one of the pillar organizations of our people.

Dispersed across the homeland and the diaspora, our people have faced tremendous obstacles : denial policies, killings, massacres, and mass migration from their native lands. In this context, the formation of the European Syriac Union (ESU) served as vital bridge between the homeland and the diaspora. By creating a new force and bringing the plight of our people to the attention of the international community—especially European counterparts—ESU has played a crucial role in raising public awareness and vigilance.

For more than twenty years, ESU, together with its affiliated organizations and institutions, and with the participation of hundreds of members and colleagues, has built an undeniable presence among our people. Through this, ESU has reached important international actors to advocate for and assist the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian people. Over the years, ESU has organized high-level international conferences, meetings, demonstrations, and various public-oriented activities across Europe to generate strong public support for our cause.

As we celebrate our founding anniversary, we also take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to our members, colleagues, supporters, and sympathizers for their invaluable contributions. ESU is committed to the destiny of our people and will continue its mission and struggle for our people with unwavering dedication.
