As the European Syriac Union (ESU), we extend our sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the Catholic community worldwide on the occasion of Easter.
This sacred feast, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, stands as a profound symbol of hope, renewal, and salvation for all humanity. The life, suffering, and sacrifice of Jesus Christ continue to serve as the highest example of love, compassion, and forgiveness, guiding us in times of both challenge and faith.
We are convinced that the teachings of Jesus Christ—rooted in love, justice, and equality—hold the power to bring Christian denominations closer together, strengthening unity and solidarity among believers. At the same time, we emphasize the importance of ensuring that the voices of our Christian brothers and sisters living under pressure and hardship across the world are heard, that their fundamental rights are protected, and that freedom of belief is upheld and strengthened.
We also express our sincere hope that, in the future, all Christians may celebrate this holy feast on a common date, as a meaningful step toward greater unity—while recognizing that the Syriac Orthodox community traditionally observes Easter on a different date.
Easter represents the light that follows darkness, the hope that rises after despair, and the promise of life beyond death. On this significant occasion, we wish for peace, fraternity, and solidarity to be strengthened across all humanity.
May the divine light of the resurrection of Jesus Christ illuminate all hearts and inspire a future shaped by unity, dignity, and peace.
